I&#8217;ve had mine for 13 years, and it&#8217;s still going strong. It&#8217;s not perfect, and with Artisan Plus, KitchenAid has made thoughtful changes to the original design that make your life easier, and keep your kitchen clean.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a new mixer has a very powerful motor, and can move between speeds smoothly. The classic mixer offers good speeds (1, 2, 4, 5, 8, and 10) but sometimes there is a big jump from one setting to another, and if you are not prepared, you can accidentally increase the power suddenly, spreading flour on your kitchen or batter that is bubbling around. With Artisan Plus, it&#8217;s easy to find the right speed for your baking task. I can see this being especially useful for making buttercream without covering your kitchen in a layer of icing sugar. Sure, the classic KitchenAid Artisan comes with a shield to keep things contained, but it&#8217;s easy to see what&#8217;s going on in the bowl without it.<\/p>\n<aside data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"hawk-root\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-5403c4e1-e0e6-416f-9cef-41060de88f84-1\">Speaking of visual clarity, my new favorite feature is the integrated bowl light, which makes it easy to check the progress of your mixing, whisking, or kneading. I have under-counter lights, but the mixer tends to cast a shadow over the bowl, so this is a really useful addition.<\/p>\n<p>The Artisan Plus comes with a double flex-edge beater, which scrapes the inside of the bowl like a spatula to ensure everything is fully incorporated, and a set of stainless steel accessories. This is a real improvement on the aluminum accessories made with the original mixer, which (in my experience) did not always fare well in the dishwasher. The Artisan Plus is also compatible with all of your existing KitchenAid attachments, including the three-in-one pasta roller that was introduced earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The KitchenAid Artisan Plus is available now in the US for $599.99 (around \u00a3450 \/ AU$870).
