6 LongHorn Steakhouse Things I Tried Recently And The Best Steak I’ve Ever Seen

I am a big fan of LongHorn Steakhouse. While it’s not the prettiest Darden chain, it does offer great value, offering delicious steaks and sides at reasonable prices. I recently ate at a restaurant in Jenkintown, PA, and indulged in delicious fare while receiving top-notch service. The brand takes customer satisfaction seriously, with the manager, Andrew Richman, explaining that he has been with the company for several years and opened this location specifically. Our server, Sonia, a college student, was eager to make recommendations. The food did not disappoint. Here are my recommendations on what to order the next time you’re at the LongHorn, including the best steak on the menu.

Sonia recommended the premium steak on the menu, the LongHorn Porterhouse, at $36.29. “It’s the best of both worlds,” he told me. He was not wrong. The 22-ounce chunk of meat includes New York bone-in rib and open-faced filet mignon. The meat is seasoned to perfection and grilled over the fire to your liking. I chose medium rare. It was really fun. My boyfriend and I could have shared a meal, but I didn’t care if we both went home with a fool. What makes steak so delicious? First, the meat itself was a big cut.

Runner Up: Flo’s Filet is also amazing

My regular order at LongHorn is Flo’s Filet. I like that you can get a smaller or larger piece of meat, depending on how hungry you are. Filet mignon is soft and very tender. You can definitely tell the difference between this and, say, a New York Strip or Sirloin. It also has the highest file size.

Best Appetizer: Texas Tonion

If you’re going to order one appetizer at LongHorn, it has to be the Texas Tonion. This is how I remember the OG Bloomin’ Onion at Outback tasting: Super fresh, perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection on the inside, and toasty on the outside. Because the onion leaves are separated, there are no soggy bites. Also, the “zesty dip” that comes with it is very tasty.

Best salad: Strawberry and Pecan

So I usually get a side salad or Caesar at LongHorn, but my boyfriend chose the Strawberry and Pecan as one of his sides. Now it’s my favorite. It starts with a bed of fresh field greens topped with freshly cut strawberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, feta, and a refreshing raspberry vinaigrette.

Best sides: Brussels sprouts

You can’t go wrong with any of the sides at LongHorn Steakhouse, but the Crispy Brussels Sprouts are one of the best at any steakhouse. The perfectly cooked cruciferous veggie is served with a delicious smoky honey butter that pairs well with steaks.

Best Dessert: Chocolate Stampede

Our server assured us that dessert was a good idea, even though we were deliciously full. We chose the Chocolate Stampede, which is a sampling of all things chocolate. It comes with six different types of chocolate, topped with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate sauce. In fact it is big enough that a large table can be shared.
