5 Texas Roadhouse Orders Diners Say Are Actually Better Than Steak

Diners say these five Texas Roadhouse dishes are better than steak.

I have tasted many items from the Texas Roadhouse menu, from every side and appetizer, to every meat on offer and I have yet to have a bad meal there. While Texas Roadhouse is known for its steaks, there are plenty of other delicious things on their menu that diners can get their hands on. From classic barbecue to fresh seafood, here are five orders guests say are worth skipping the steak.

Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs

Ribs are a favorite among foodies (and that includes me)! “Me [have worked] at Texas roadhouse as a server for a long time now. #3 store in the country even,” said a Reddit user.[The ribs are] wonderful. We don’t call them “fall on the ribs” for no reason. I hate finger food. I eat them with a fork very easily. No meat sticks to the bone. And our house made BBQ sauce is amazing. “

Grilled Salmon

Although salmon isn’t a prominent option at Texas Roadhouse, diners say it shouldn’t be overlooked. “My husband and I went there a few weeks ago. Very enjoyable experience even though it was a Friday night and very busy. I had the salmon and he had the rib eye. Both were very good,” said a Reddit user, recommending the salmon. “Salmon from Texas Roadhouse is AMAZING,” said another. While the 3rd followed, saying “my friend was giving it to me [a hard time] for getting salmon at a steak restaurant lol. It’s so good I couldn’t order it.”

Rattlesnake Bites

Rattlesnake Bites are a fan favorite with spicy, smoked jalapenos and cream jack cheese, with a crispy coating and a side of cajun sauce. “Honestly the only interesting thing I find interesting is a rattlesnake bite,” the Texas Roadhouse server said in a Reddit thread. “Jack cheese, red pepper and jalapeno in a light batter and fried.”

Texas Red Chili

Whether you get it as a side, a main, or a small to-go for lunch tomorrow, Texas Red Chili is another chain food fans love. Made from scratch and topped with onions and cheese, chili gets a lot of love. “Texas red chili is SOOOOO good especially when you dip the bread in it,” said a reviewer on Reddit. Another review on Yelp said, “the best thing was the cup of chili. [We] he took two bowls from it.” Doubling because that’s cool, and honestly, I support that.

Freshly Baked Rolls with Cinnamon Butter

The free rolls come with a delicious cinnamon honey butter, and diners rave about them. So much so that it was wrong for me not to speak to them. Be sure to save space for at least a few before or during the meal. “Those rolls are buttery, signature and irresistible. It’s so annoying I’m almost trying to look at my girl form,” said a reviewer on Yelp. Freshly baked in 5 minutes (according to the website), these rolls are a Texas Roadhouse staple.
